Why entity type and Super details are required
Introduction
- At the time of invoicing, Surreal needs to know each entertainer’s setup in order to correctly allocate Superannuation contributions. If the entity type is unknown, we’re unable to generate accurate invoices, as the breakdown of amounts between parties can’t be determined.
- This requirement also ensures all parties remain fully compliant with the Superannuation Guarantee Act 1992 and are protected under the legislation.

Recent platform changes
For gigs dated 14 July 2025 onwards, gigs will only be blocked from being invoiced (and paid) if:
- Either the venue or agent in the booking has opted in for Superannuation, AND
- The entertainer has not yet selected an entity type OR the entertainer has selected "Sole Trader" but has not yet added Super fund details
Previously, only entity type selection was required for all gigs dated 1 July 2025 onwards.
I.e. If both venue and agent have not opted in for Super Contributions for the performance, then those invoices will not be blocked.
Why The Change?
This update ensures entertainers are properly onboarded to collect Super details. Without this, the party (venue or agent) who opted in for Super could be at risk of ATO penalties if contributions aren't made on time.
This update also means gigs will only be blocked and Super details checked, IF someone has actually opted in for Superannuation, helping avoid unnecessary delays to payments where agents and venues have decided to not contribute Superannuation.
See video here explaining the change.
👉 What You Need to Do
Entertainers
Even if no one has opted in for Super on your booking yet, we strongly recommend updating your profile now to avoid any potential delays.
- Log in and select your Entity Type in profile settings.
- If you're a Sole Trader, you'll be asked to enter your Super fund details.
- Don't have a Super account? Set one up with Australian Retirement Trust here.
- Once set up, add your fund details in your profile settings.
Already completed this above? Great, no actions required.
Venues & Agents
If you or any of your venues / agents have opted in for Super:
- Go to your Contacts screen
- Track which entertainers haven’t added Super details
- Follow up with them to update their profiles and keep payments flowing
